If you’re looking for some vacation inspo, you’ve come to the right place. Positano, Italy is one of the most surreal vacation spots along the coast of Italy. Here are our best recommendations for your next trip.
1. Hotel: Le Sirenuse
Le Sirenuse is a wonderful place from which to enjoy the simple pleasures of Positano and the spectacular Amalfi Coast. John Steinbeck, who visited in 1953, wrote ‘Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.’ The majolica tiled rooms are filled with museum-worthy antiques, hand-picked mostly by patriarch Franco Sersale.
2. Restaurant: Buca di bacco
The Buca di Bacco Hotel, with its renowned restaurant, became the destination of choice for tourists visiting the Amalfi coast in the early ’50 during la Dolce Vita period. Here you will taste genuine and simple foods that will remind you of the flavors and vivacity of our land without forgetting its charming simplicity. The hall with the veranda overlooking the beach allows you to admire the sea view with the picturesque views of Positano by night.
3. Restaurant: Don Alfonso 1890 in Boutique Hotel (in the hotel)
Ristorante Don Alfonso 1890 reflects a philosophy that is innovative while respecting the local food culture and the old traditions of the Sorrento peninsula and the Amalfi Coast. Nestled in a 19th century Neapolitan building, the restaurant is filled with bright colors – lilac, yellow, orange and pink – which look lovely with the natural, Mediterranean light, transporting guests to the extraordinary atmosphere of Southern Italy.
4. Activity: Arienzo Beach
Arienzo beach is a small bay half free and half private, accessible by private shuttle or by a long staircase and therefore also known as the beach of the “300 steps“. Rather challenging for those not accustomed to the “seesawing” nature of the territory, this suggestive staircase allows you to peek inside some of the most beautiful villas on the Amalfi Coast, passing by Villa Tre Ville, the Villa belonging to Zeffirelli that hosted and continues to host international faces, artists and renowned dancers.
5. Activity: Spiaggia Grande Beach
Spiaggia Grande is the main beach of Positano, visited every year by thousands of people. It can be reached on foot starting from the center of Positano (Piazza dei Mulini) crossing the characteristic narrow streets full of shops, which offer the visitor a wide variety of typical products, souvenirs and local handicrafts. The beach stretches for about 400 meters, on the right side there is the pier from which depart and arrive: ferries and shuttles to the nearby beaches; you can also buy boat trips or kayak trips to admire the beautiful Amalfi Coast from the sea.
